How duplicate titles and 60-day temporary permits work in Wyoming.
Wyoming-specific guidance for dealers working with county clerks on duplicate titles and using WYDOT temporary permits correctly.
Duplicate / replacement title workflow
Use this workflow when a customer reports a lost title or when you’re cleaning up paperwork before sale or trade:
In Wyoming, motor vehicle titles are issued and replaced through county clerk offices that work in coordination with WYDOT.
Duplicate titles can be issued only when the original has been lost, destroyed, or mutilated; all owners of record must sign the duplicate title application and have their signatures notarized.
County clerk websites provide a local Application for Duplicate Title that must be completed with the VIN, owner details, and any lienholder information.
The completed, notarized application and fee are submitted to the appropriate county clerk, who issues the duplicate title following Wyoming statutes.
Dealers should confirm in which county the vehicle is titled and work with that clerk’s office, especially when dealing with salvage, rebuilt, or out-of-state vehicles that have been retitled in Wyoming.
